Where | Great Broughton Village Hall | Type of Event | Illustrated Talk |
When | Monday 18th October at 7.30pm | Tutor | Lyn Perks |
At a well-attended meeting, Lyn started with a general look at the history of picture postcards from their origins in the early 1890s, when there was no space to write anything but an address, to the early years of the 20th century when the post card as we know it first appeared with the divided back giving space for a message.
She then continued to show images from her collection of Norton cards illustrating aspects of the developing face of the village and its residents over time. A thoroughly entertaining evening was followed by contributions and questions from the audience. Always a good sign that members enjoyed themselves.
